He’d been so caught up in making sure everything was in order for the mess he was sure the night would bring that he hadn’t even noticed her approaching his room. Well, not until it was too late, of course, did sensitive ears hear those familiar footsteps coming down that hall. But by then there was nothing he could do about it. With his bones creaking and breaking and shifting every which way, he could hardly speak let alone actually move. He’d been right in thinking that holding himself back would only make the transformation worse, and he let out a long and mournful groan as he fell back on the bed, no longer able to sit himself upright. He opened his now beastly maw, as if to say something, in response to the very loud banging on his door, but all that Sam could manage was a whimpering growl. That would not at all satisfy Sally, so he quickly brought newly clawed and furred hands up to his face to clamp his jaws firmly shut.

Oh god, what to do…if Sally wanted to get in then she was going to get in. There was no keeping her out of anywhere, and Sam’s whole body was aching much too much for him to think of a way to weasel his way out of this. Unfortunately, there really wasn’t anything to do when your whole being was screaming at you to get on all fours and growl angrily at the intruder. Shit, he just needed to think, but between Sally’s pained words and the endless wave of adrenaline and pain from the moon itself, Sam found himself caught. Stuck laying on the bed and looking just as much a monster as he possibly could, covered from head to toe in fur with claws and fangs and pointy ears…there was no way he could hide behind anything. He would most certainly stick out like a sore thumb. His only hope now was that she would be so taken aback that she would leave before she could recognize him…if she could recognize him. Yes, he would just keep his big maw shut and hope for the best. At least, he didn’t have to worry about accidentally hurting her, she was already dead.

The plan immediately went out the window as he watched the ghost burst through his door, his heart leaping up into his throat as he saw just how distraught she was. He couldn’t just say nothing! This was Sally. The one person in this place he could trust, and he wanted to try to deceive her…he could feel guilt settle in on him as he finally felt his monstrous form settling. “Sally…” he began, his words trailing off into a whimper as he slowly stood up. He voice was gravely, wanting nothing more than to be a snarl as he shook his head and got up off the end of the bed. “I was gonna…tell ya…honest…”

The thick door standing between her and Sam’s little secret was no match for Sally’s rage; nothing could possibly be more dangerous than a woman trying to find out if she was being played with. Sooner than later, the creaking wood finally gave in and she stumbled right into his room, body launched forward by the strength of her pushes. Though it took her a few moments to find her balance, the junkie’s eyes were already scanning the darkness of the silent room she broke into… Shadows were doing a fucking great job at keeping the black monster well hidden. Sam’s bed was still neatly made and there was no one there— it was a relief. At least she didn’t catch him screwing some other woman when he thought her girlfriend wouldn’t find out; Sally would always find out, she was the eyes and ears of this damned place.

Finally, after a few seconds of simply standing there like a goddamn fool, a familiar voice reached the junkie’s ears. The sound made her focus a little harder, hard enough to finally notice a lonely figure standing against one of the corners of the room… Had she not been dead already, Sally’s poor heart would have stopped right then and there. It was him, alright, the man she loved and to whom she belonged to— or at least what was left of him. He was huge… As her eyes moved up, the blonde was able to take in up to the last inch of this monstrous body now standing so close to her. Gentle hands had been replaced by a large set of claws, there were pointy ears sticking out of his head and the harsh sound of his breathing was anything but familiar. What the actual fuck was going on?

Looking like she just saw the scariest thing ever to exist, Sally had to make use of every bit of self control she possessed to not make a run for it. Was she about to be eaten? Torn to pieces maybe? Don’t be stupid, it wouldn’t hurt you— he wouldn’t hurt you. For the first time since the two met, words seemed to have abandoned her… She just couldn’t stop looking at the giant wolf standing there like it was the most normal thing in the world. When she finally opened her mouth to speak, nothing but a shaky whimper slipped past her lips, followed by a single word that pretty much summed up every single thought making her brain hurt and feel like it had been set on fire.

How?
